Oncology RN Job Details
- Position Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract Oncology RN job)
- Location: Morgantown, WV 26505 (West Virginia healthcare jobs)
- Unit: 5N Oncology – 12-bed inpatient oncology unit with med/surg overflow
- Start Date: November 3, 2025
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (option to extend)
- Shift: Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00pm – 7:30am), weekdays and every other weekend
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570-$1610
- Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- EMR: Cerner
- Scrubs: Burgundy and/or white (not provided)
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (Oncology nursing experience preferred)
- Active West Virginia or Compact RN license (pending license accepted)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)
- NIHSS certification
- ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification preferred
- IV start skills required
- At least 2 manager or charge nurse references within the past 2 years
- Permanent address must be more than 100 miles from facility (75-100 miles considered case-by-case)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Provide safe, effective nursing care to oncology and med/surg overflow patients
- Administer chemotherapy and monitor for adverse reactions (chemo certified preferred)
- Start IVs and manage central lines, ports, and PICC lines
- Educate and support patients and families throughout cancer treatment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner EMR
- Follow neutropenic precautions and infection control protocols
- Complete orientation and required modules prior to start date
