Role: The Specialty Nurse (RN) - Organ Donation Coordinator manages the organ donation process for critically ill patients, collaborating with care teams, families, hospital leadership, and the regional organ procurement organization.
Responsibilities: Facilitate communication among care teams, support families through emotional and complex decisions, serve as a liaison with the Organ Procurement Organization, guide clinical workflows, promote awareness of donation, ensure regulatory compliance, and conduct critical care unit rounds to identify potential donors.
Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, active RN license, BLS CPR certification, minimum 3 years RN experience (critical care preferred), and knowledge of organ donation processes is highly desirable.
Key Duties: Coordinate donation activities ethically and compassionately, support family-centered discussions, promote hospital donation protocols, and assist in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring efficient and timely donor identification and management.
