This role would be a 6-month contract-to-hire hybrid position in Columbia, Maryland, requiring going onsite one day a week. This role will partner closely with data engineers, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to transform complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications and data solutions.

- Translate business needs into clear specifications for data engineering teams
- Collaborate with stakeholders across technical, operational, and business functions
- Assist with testing, validation, and quality assurance efforts to ensure deliverables meet requirements
- Support Agile/Scrum processes, including backlog management and requirements refinement
- Analyze data flows and transformations across multiple systems and platforms
- Maintain documentation related to data sources, business rules, workflows, and reporting requirements
- Help identify and resolve data-related issues and support continuous process improvements
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail
- 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar data-focused role
- Strong SQL or Python skills, including the ability to write and troubleshoot complex queries
- Understanding of data transformation, data integration, and data movement between systems
- Experience gathering requirements and working with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with testing, validation, and QA processes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to quickly learn new business processes, systems, and data structures
- Experience working in healthcare, healthcare IT, public health, or related industries
- Advanced SQL experience
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Jira
- Exposure to cloud-based data environments such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark, or Data Lakes
- Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or business intelligence initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Strong SQL or Python proficiency
- Understanding of data flow, integration, and transformation concepts
- Ability to work with and connect data from multiple systems
- Interest in business analysis, data analytics, and stakeholder-facing work
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
