Overview
Our client is a boutique wealth management firm that provides comprehensive financial planning and wealth management services to help high-net-worth individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals. The firm is seeking a Financial Planning Associate to join its team.
The Financial Planning Associate should have an interest in financial planning and a desire to build a long-term career in the field. This role requires time management, consistent follow-through, and exceptional attention to detail. Professional Interest in Financial Planning. Demonstrates a clear and sustained interest in financial planning and personal finance, with a genuine desire to build a long-term career in the field. Has relevant academic and/or early professional exposure to financial planning concepts and shows curiosity about client financial decision-making. Intends to pursue the CFP designation and is committed to developing
technical expertise and advisory capability over time.
Client Service Orientation & Professional Judgment. Clear communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and internal stakeholders. Maintains a polished, service-oriented approach and exercises sound judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence in client interactions.
Accuracy, Organization & Analytical Capability. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all work product. Possesses strong numerical aptitude and consistently produces high-quality analytical and client deliverable work while managing competing priorities effectively.
Ownership, Accountability & Execution. Demonstrates a clear sense of ownership and accountability for assigned responsibilities. Able to manage tasks through completion independently once trained, with a disciplined approach to execution and follow-through.
Responsibilities
- Support Financial Planners in delivering high-quality client service
- Assist in the preparation for client meetings, including documentation of discussions and coordination of follow-up items
- Liaise with the firm’s bookkeeper on client matters and oversee bookkeeping responsibilities for two high-priority clients
- Prepare quarterly tax projections under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Financial Planning
- Coordinate and support year-end planning and reporting initiatives in partnership with the investment management team
- Collaborate with the Chief Financial Planning Officer on annual client health insurance selection and enrollment
- Develop and maintain relationships with external professionals, including accountants, attorneys, and bookkeepers within the firm’s network
- Develop working knowledge of core business processes, including client onboarding, contracts, and fee structures
- Assume increasing responsibility for independent client-facing work over time; progressively support the development of client financial plans and recommendations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in financial planning or a related field
- 2–3 years of professional experience, ideally within financial services, with exposure to financial planning or wealth management preferred
- Demonstrated interest in financial planning and personal finance, with intent to pursue the CFP designation
- Experience with CRM systems required; familiarity with Advisor Engine, Portfolio Center, or NetDocs is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
