Client:
Our client is a global alternative investment advisory and asset management firm with over $360 billion in assets under supervision. The platform invests across private equity, private credit, real assets, and hedge funds, with more than 170 dedicated investment professionals globally. The private equity team oversees approximately $115 billion and focuses on primary fund commitments, co-investments, and secondaries.
Opportunity:
The Associate will join the Private Equity investment team and focus primarily on evaluating and underwriting private equity primary fund investments, with an emphasis on North American buyout strategies. This individual will work closely with senior investment professionals and collaborate across the broader platform, including the co-investment and secondaries teams.
Location: San Diego, CA
Responsibilities:
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative due diligence on private equity funds, including performance and attribution analysis
- Prepare investment memorandums and supporting materials for presentation to the Investment Committee
- Partner with the co-investment team to source and evaluate co-investment opportunities
- Assist in underwriting LP-led secondary transactions alongside the dedicated secondaries team
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and macroeconomic factors impacting private equity markets
- Support ongoing portfolio monitoring, including manager reviews and performance tracking
- Build and maintain relationships with general partners and industry participants to support deal flow
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance in finance, economics, business, or a related field
- 2–5 years of relevant experience at an institutional investor, asset manager, or financial institution with exposure to private equity underwriting
- Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities
- Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information to assess investment opportunities
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- High level of intellectual curiosity, initiative, integrity, and commercial judgment
- Ability to operate in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
