Job Overview

The ideal candidate must have experience in a professional kitchen environment making sandwiches, prepping food and using commercial cooking equipment. You must be able to work clean, and in an organized manner, and be on time for scheduled shifts. This position will work in an open kitchen most of the day, cooking and prepping in front of customers. Consistency, cleanliness of work and appropriate food safety behavior are of the upmost importance. The position will work a minimum of 24 hours per week, up to 32 hours per week may be available during peak production times.

Duties

• Prepare ingredients for sandwiches, salads, and other menu items according to established recipes and standards
• Slice meats, cheeses, vegetables, and bread using proper knife skills and slicing techniques to ensure consistency and safety
• Assemble sandwiches efficiently while maintaining cleanliness and organization in the prep area
• Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, toasters, ovens, and refrigeration units safely and effectively
• Follow food safety protocols and hygiene standards during all stages of food handling and preparation
• Assist with menu planning by suggesting ingredient combinations and portion sizes to optimize quality and efficiency
• Maintain a clean work environment by regularly sanitizing surfaces, utensils, and equipment in compliance with health regulations

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or catering environments is highly desirable
• Knowledge of dietary department procedures or dietary aide experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of food safety management practices and safety standards in production environments
• Proficiency in food preparation techniques including slicing, portioning, and assembling meals
• Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen staff and team members
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while adhering to sanitation guidelines
• Familiarity with recipe adherence, meal preparation processes, and food handling procedures
