Overview
Pinkerton’s is a small bakery recently opened in the historic Hudson Valley city of Kingston, NY, created by James Beard award winning Pastry Chef, Angela Pinkerton. Angela brings experience from the past twenty-five years of commitment in bakery and fine dining restaurant pastry programs in San Francisco (Che Fico, Craftsman and Wolves, Pie Society), New York City (Eleven Madison Park) and the DC area (Ritz Carlton). The bakery’s menu features a range of nostalgic desserts, morning pastries, and sweet/savory cakes and pies, as well as a small menu of breakfast, and lunch items. Always baking from scratch, fresh daily, we work with local farms and purveyors to create a seasonally changing menu, as well as a curated selection of customer favorites.
- Prepare a variety of baked goods, including pastries, cakes, and other confections, following established recipes and standards
- Decorate cakes with precision, creativity, and attention to detail to meet customer specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, knives, and other baking tools safely and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure food safety and hygiene compliance at all times
- Handle food with care, adhering to proper food handling procedures and safety guidelines
- Assist in food preparation tasks for high-volume production while maintaining consistency and quality
- Support the team in packaging finished products securely for delivery or display
Qualification
Prior Baking experience in a professional bakery or pastry kitchen setting is necessary.
We are looking to add a Baker to our small team of hard working and talented individuals. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in quality kitchens. The position will work 32-40 hours per week with a pay range of $20-26hr including pooled tips. Hourly pay rate is based on experience.
Responsibilities will include preparing and baking pastries, mixing doughs, cakes, pies, cookies, etc., as well lending a hand in preparing raw products, fillings, and custards. Washing dishes, putting away deliveries, mopping and maintaining a clean and organized workspace are part of the day to day requirements, as well.
Candidates need excellent interpersonal skills, be organized and proactive, have the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining high standards. You'll need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods of time, and have convenience to Kingston, NY.
