Pineland BHDD is seeking a compassionate and dependable Instructional Aide to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a structured day program setting at our Service Center in Statesboro, GA. This rewarding role focuses on helping individuals build life skills, independence, and confidence through hands-on support, instruction, and community engagement.
The Instructional Aide assists withdaily programming, skill development, and supervision of individuals in Community Access, Prevocational, and Respite services. You’ll work closely with instructors and team members to support individuals in achieving personal, social, and vocational goals in a safe and supportive environment
What You’ll Do
Direct Support & Supervision
- Monitor individuals’ safety, behavior, and participation throughout the day
- Provide supervision during classes, recreational time, transportation, and community activities
- Assist individuals with daily living needs such as hygiene, dressing, and meals
- Respond to behavioral or health concerns and report appropriately
Instruction & Skill Building
- Support instructors in delivering individual and group training activities
- Teach basic life skills, social skills, and simple academic or work-related tasks
- Use positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to support learning
- Assist individuals in developing independence and appropriate social behaviors
Program Activities & Daily Operations
- Assist with prevocational training and work-site tasks
- Help prepare and organize instructional materials and supplies
- Support meal preparation, feeding assistance, and structured leisure activities
- Guide individuals during community outings and recreational experiences
Documentation & Team Collaboration
- Accurately document daily progress, behaviors, and incidents
- Assist with tracking individual goals and outcomes
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and program planning
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies and procedures
Transportation
- Safely transport individuals to and from appointments, community activities, and program sites
- Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License
- Ability to provide hands-on support and ensure safety
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred
- Associate or Bachelor degree in a related field
- Experience in direct care, education, or human services
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
