Job Summary
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This position involves supporting clients in various settings, including home care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and group homes. The PCA is responsible for ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of clients while promoting their independence and dignity.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Monitor and document vital signs and changes in client conditions.
- Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans.
- Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and assist with meal preparation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Support clients with mobility needs, including the use of Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or developmental disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while maintaining client confidentiality.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification are preferred.
- Current PSS or CNA certification is required for this position. However, if you do not yet have certification, we will assist you in obtaining it as part of your employment process.
- Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in health or behavior.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs.
- Proficient in patient care techniques, including memory care and dementia care strategies.
- Experience in home health or hospice care settings is beneficial but is not required
- Compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on senior care and long-term care experience.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about providing high-quality personal care while fostering a supportive environment for those they serve.
