Duties
- Assist residents and clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature), observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards
- Support medication administration under supervision or as authorized by care plans, ensuring safety and compliance with healthcare regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs, assist with feeding when necessary, and maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas
- Implement individualized care plans developed by healthcare professionals or social workers to meet each resident’s unique needs
- Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, infection control practices, and adherence to safety protocols such as CPR and first aid procedures
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents meticulously to ensure continuity of care and compliance with healthcare standards
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home & community care environments or with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with people experiencing dementia or Alzheimer’s disease; experience with memory care is a plus
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and ability to monitor vital signs accurately
- Experience working with people with autism or disabilities is beneficial; familiarity with care plans and resident-specific needs is essential
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting tasks involving residents or equipment like Hoyer lifts; ability to assist with transfers safely
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, healthcare teams, and other staff members
- High School Diploma
