We are seeking an experienced IT Director to lead our healthcare IT operations and oversee the design, implementation, and support of critical hospital systems. This role requires a highly skilled professional with strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a background in healthcare IT environments. The IT Director will ensure our technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, and aligned with the hospital’s mission to deliver excellent patient care.
The individual in this position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. This position collaborates closely with all departments, the Medical Staff, and external vendors to ensure that system information is always available.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all IT systems and infrastructure -servers, networks, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and phone systems.
Reviews all hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts, soliciting involvement and participation of other management team members as appropriate. Develops and monitors the approved annual operating and capital budgets for information and technology
Develops and supervises staff resources to provide routine technical (help desk) services, supporting day-to-day operations and the timely resolution of system failures.
Ensure IT strategic planning aligns and supports the organizational strategic plan and goals.
Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems
Performs liaison duties between users and operations in areas of system design, modifications, or troubleshooting
Analyzing the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
Maintains professional growth through seminars/workshops to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise
The Hospital Director of Information Technology will be responsible for 24/7 accountability of the information technology department and must be readily available in the event of any emergency.
Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Health IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in healthcare IT leadership roles, with expertise in EMR systems and hospital technology operations.
Experience with Linux systems, including basic scripting (Python or Lua), as well as firewall and VPN administration.
Strong track record aligning IT strategy with clinical workflows and compliance
Knowledge of HIPAA and IT security standards
Experience working with PACS and HL7 a plus
