How to be Successful in the Role:
In this position you will interface with both internal and external parties on a regular basis; being adaptable and collaborative is a must. You will need to be skilled in clear communication, able to have difficult conversations, and to explain complex processes in ways that are easily understood. This role requires someone who is highly organized and administrative, as you will be responsible for tracking systems and streamlining data collection methods. Having experience with data collection and analysis will guide your success. Someone with advanced skills in Workday, PowerBi, and or Excel will be a welcome addition to this team!
Your Future in this Role:
Initially, you will spend time learning our internal C&C processes within Pierce County. This will be crucial because as a C&C Specialist, you are often assisting employees, division leadership, or peer jurisdictions in navigating the complex world of Classification and Compensation. Your clarity, expertise, and excellent customer service will be crucial as you support this team. Core Daily Responsibilities:
- ·Conduct preliminary job analysis by reviewing existing job descriptions, organizational charts, staffing patterns, and position questionnaires.
- Draft and revise job descriptions using established templates and guidance; route for review and approval.
- Assist in gathering market data for salary surveys, including matching benchmark classifications, entering data, and preparing comparison tables.
- Maintain classification and compensation data in Workday; enter updates, run audits, and verify accuracy of job, pay, and structure data.
- Support development and maintenance of pay grids, pay data, and classification inventories.
- Provide customer service to departments and external requesters by answering routine questions about job descriptions, pay ranges, and classification procedures; escalate complex questions to Analyst or Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis for qualifications listed.
- Four (4) years of human resources or general office experience, including experience with data collection, and high-functioning administrative support.
- Post-secondary education may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- While not required, it is preferred that a candidate have advanced experience in PowerBi and or Excel for data collection and analysis.
- Experience in Workday or a similar HRIS system.
