Our client a well known University is seeking a Leave Management Specialist in their New York, New York Location
Manage employee leave requests and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the leave lifecycle.
Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, Paid Family Leave (PFL), Short-Term Disability (STD), Workers’ Compensation, Military Leave, and applicable state/local leave programs.
Determine leave eligibility and provide guidance on available leave options, benefits, policies, and required documentation.
Conduct leave intake consultations, prepare documentation, and maintain accurate case records.
Coordinate workplace accommodations and return-to-work processes in partnership with employees, managers, and internal stakeholders.
Facilitate interactive accommodation processes and ensure compliance with ADA requirements and applicable regulations.
Provide timely, professional, and empathetic support while handling confidential employee information and sensitive situations.
Track leave balances, certifications, extensions, documentation, and case milestones while maintaining HIPAA-compliant records.
Manage leave-related inquiries through HR ticketing systems, ensuring accurate case notes, updates, and timely resolution.
Monitor outstanding documentation, follow up on deadlines, and escalate complex or high-risk matters when needed.
Support HR initiatives including process improvements, compliance reviews, system enhancements, workflow automation, and reporting.
Develop and maintain SOPs, job aids, training materials, and process documentation.
Analyze leave trends and prepare reports related to FMLA, intermittent leave, disability, accommodations, workers’ compensation, and PFL utilization.
Partner with Benefits, Payroll, Labor Relations, Risk Management, HR teams, managers, and external agencies to support effective leave administration.
Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws, ensuring compliance and audit readiness.
Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, accountability, collaboration, and exceptional customer service across all leave management activities.
