Our client, a growing regional bank, is seeking a Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer to oversee and administer the Bank's BSA/AML/OFAC compliance program. This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations related to anti-money laundering (AML), suspicious activity monitoring, customer due diligence, and sanctions screening. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, exceptional analytical skills, and experience working within a financial institution.


Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the Bank's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance programs.
  • Monitor transactions and investigate potentially suspicious activity, escalating concerns as appropriate.
  • Review and determine the need for Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), ensuring timely and accurate regulatory filings.
  • Conduct customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing customer risk assessments.
  • Perform sanctions screening and monitor compliance with OFAC regulations.
  • Stay current on changes to BSA/AML regulations, FinCEN guidance, and other regulatory requirements, recommending updates to policies and procedures as needed.
  • Develop, maintain, and update BSA/AML policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Partner with business units to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and identify potential compliance risks.
  • Assist with internal audits, regulatory examinations, and independent BSA audits by providing documentation and responding to requests.
  • Prepare reports and metrics for executive management and the Board regarding BSA/AML compliance activities.
  • Deliver BSA/AML training and guidance to employees across the organization.
  • Support ongoing monitoring, risk assessments, and remediation efforts to strengthen the Bank's compliance program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5 years of BSA/AML compliance experience within a bank, credit union, or financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, AML regulations, OFAC requirements, FinCEN guidance, and related regulatory expectations.
  • Experience preparing and filing SARs and CTRs.
  • Familiarity with Customer Identification Program (CIP), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
  • Experience using AML transaction monitoring systems and case management platforms.
  • CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CAMS, CFCS, or other relevant compliance certifications.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations and external audits.
  • Knowledge of fraud detection, financial crimes investigations, and enterprise risk management.
  • Experience with AML software such as Verafin, NICE Actimize, Fiserv, Oracle Mantas, or similar platforms.

Salary : $50 - $65
