We are seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced Medical Biller with a background in pediatric billing to join our growing team. This role will begin on-site for the first month during training and then transition to a hybrid remote schedule.
Position Summary
The Medical Biller – Pediatrics is responsible for accurate and timely billing, coding, and claim submission for pediatric physician practices. This role requires hands-on experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) and a solid understanding of pediatric-specific billing requirements, including well-child visits, preventive care coding, vaccine administration billing, and EPSDT compliance. Ideal candidates are organized, self-directed, and committed to delivering clean claims and optimal reimbursement on behalf of our provider clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records, encounter notes, and provider documentation to ensure accurate and compliant billing
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for pediatric diagnoses, procedures, and preventive services
- Accurately bill for well-child visits, sick visits, immunizations, and developmental screenings in accordance with payer guidelines
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to claim submission, including Medicaid and CHIP plan requirements
- Submit and track claims through eClinicalWorks; monitor claim status and resolve rejections and denials promptly
- Follow up with payers, providers, and patients to resolve billing discrepancies, missing documentation, or authorization issues
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, EPSDT mandates, and all applicable federal and state billing regulations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pediatric coding guidelines, payer-specific rules, and CMS updates
- Collaborate with internal billing team members to maintain clean claim rates and minimize AR aging
- Document all billing activities, follow-up actions, and payer correspondence accurately within eClinicalWorks
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree a plus
- 2–4 years of experience in medical billing, with at least 1 year in a pediatric or primary care outpatient setting
- Hands-on experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) — required; must be able to navigate the platform independently from day one
- Working knowledge of Medicaid, CHIP, and commercial payer billing requirements for pediatric services
- Familiarity with EPSDT (Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment) program billing requirements
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and pediatric-relevant CPT and ICD-10 coding
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in claim preparation and documentation review
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for payer and provider interaction
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet productivity and quality benchmarks
- Professional conduct and proven dependability in both in-person and remote work settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent medical billing/coding certification
- Experience billing for vaccine administration (CPT 90460–90461 series) and immunization schedules
- Familiarity with preventive care coding (CPT 99381–99395) and well-child visit documentation requirements
- Experience with multiple payer types: commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP
- Prior experience working for a revenue cycle management (RCM) company supporting multiple physician clients
- Experience with billing portal navigation for major managed care and Medicaid payers
