Well established organization in Saline is seeking a full time Purchasing Agent to join their team! You would support plant operations by ensuring materials are available to meet production demands while identifying cost-saving opportunities! You would work closely with Program Management, Production, Warehouse, and Accounting teams to maintain inventory accuracy, resolve supply issues, and support on-time delivery goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Program Management team in maintaining appropriate inventory levels for frequently used materials
- Review production schedules and MRP reports daily to ensure materials are available to support plant operations
- Communicate material shortages, delays, or issues impacting production schedules
- Coordinate with the Warehouse team to confirm deliveries align with purchase orders and report missing or back-ordered items
- Identify and pursue cost-saving initiatives through vendor negotiations, including pricing, contracts, JIT programs, volume rebates, terms, and stocking programs
- Purchase, budget, and track MRO items for office, production, and warehouse needs
- Manage purchase orders, resolve backorders and shortages, reconcile invoice discrepancies with Accounts Payable, and process RMAs for returned materials
- Monitor shortage reports to ensure timely resolution and achievement of on-time delivery metrics
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree preferred; coursework in Business, Finance, or a related field is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate internally and externally
- Proficient in PC applications, including Windows and Outlook
- Working knowledge of MRP and/or ERP systems
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage workload independently
