About the Role
As a Fleet Maintenance Technician, you will serve as a vital contributor to public infrastructure by ensuring our diverse fleet of transit vehicles remains safe, reliable, and efficient. You will utilize your technical expertise to diagnose complex mechanical issues and perform precision repairs, directly impacting the daily mobility of thousands of community members.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues across diesel and gasoline engine platforms, including transmissions, drivelines, and steering systems.
- Execute high-precision repairs and component replacements to maintain fleet safety and operational readiness.
- Interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and shop manuals to guide accurate troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
- Perform comprehensive electrical system diagnostics, including wiring repairs, soldering, and component adjustment.
- Maintain air, hydraulic, and chassis systems to ensure optimal vehicle performance and passenger comfort.
- Document all inspections and repairs thoroughly to uphold rigorous maintenance standards and safety compliance.
- Provide emergency support through road calls to minimize service disruptions and ensure on-time performance.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in automotive or diesel technology.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty engine and drivetrain systems.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a drug and alcohol screening.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required DOT certification.
Preferred Skills
- Technical degree or formal certification in Diesel Technology.
- Experience with advanced electrical troubleshooting and HVAC system maintenance.
- Prior experience working on transit or commercial fleet vehicles.
