*Job Summary*
Philly Art Center is a dynamic hub for creativity in the greater Philadelphia region. With 3 locations across the City and a New Jersey location, Philly Art Center believes in process learning and employs a team of creatives to deliver on its mission. A wide range of programming for all ages supports student learning.
Classes for adults take place in the evenings and on Saturday afternoons. We are seeking dynamic and passionate Fibers and/or Sewing Instructors to join our team and instruct 1 or 2 weekly, evening classes at either our Cherry Hill NJ, or Mount Airy, Philadelphia location starting in September. Candidates must have extensive fibers and/ or machine sewing experience, ideally with some teaching experience. Foundational and expanded Fibers courses include dying, felting, fabric printing & embroidery. Sewing classes are focused on machine sewing skills including basic skills, pattern development and garment construction.
We have a supportive leadership team that helps onboard, train and support teammates; and our program team ensures excellent preparedness.
*Schedule*
Seeking Candidates in Cherry Hill for Mondays, Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings from 6 - 9:15 pm.
Seeking Candidates in Mount Airy for Tuesday and/or Wednesday evenings from 6 - 9:15 pm.
*Duties*
- Instruct beginner and intermediate level students in classes that meet weekly on a variety of techniques including dying, felting, fabric printing, embroidery and machine sewing.
- Develop and implement a syllabi, with support from our team, that builds skills and supports lively student engagement.
- Support individual student needs and interests while maintaining a friendly class environment.
*Skills*
- Strong background in fibers techniques and methodologies with a BFA in Fine Art preferred.
- Strong background in machine sewing techniques and methodologies.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for teaching and inspiring students to reach their full potential.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
