What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Material Handler position at Phillips Pet Food & Supplies Group?
Position Summary: To load and unload products as outlined in each customer order for inbound shipments daily.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Unload and receive products safely in accordance with Phillips Feed policies and procedures.
- Verify accuracy and count of product on receiving documents.
- Stage and segregate product in designated areas
- Break down product as necessary.
- Complete all necessary documentation of incoming freight.
- Report all discrepancies, damages, and other issues.
- Responsible for warehouse cleanliness
- Select orders accurately to customer satisfaction. includes dry, refrigerated, and frozen products.
- Pack and ship orders as needed.
- Maintain department productivity and accuracy goals.
- Using an order selector, gather bulk bag and full case customer orders per order ticket throughout the large warehouse operating an order picker.
- Place order items on a pallet. Once pallet is full, take to the loading dock to be placed on truck
- Participates in a safety culture that includes no recordable accidents and no loss time injuries. Always make the safe choice. Ensures proper PPE is used at all times. Watches out for co-workers and warn them when there are any safety issues or hazards. Participates actively in all safety programs and activities.

Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience sit down forklift, order picker, electric pallet jack.
- Must be able to do simple mathematical calculations, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull heavy loads of 75 pounds in a physical environment.
- Must be able to work 100% of the time moving about in the work area.
- Ability to perform work tasks while bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching.
- Previous experience in receiving, handling, and stocking in retail or warehouse/distribution environments preferred.
