What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2026-2027 Post-Baccalaureate Intern position at Phillips Academy?
The 2026-2027 post-baccalaureate intern will be a critical member of the Head of School’s administrative team, providing high-level support for the Academy's strategic priorities. Working directly under the Chief of Staff, the intern will gain a "behind-the-scenes" look at the operations of a leading independent secondary school and provide support for the beginning stages of implementation of the long-range strategic plan. This is a 1-year entry-level position ideal for a college graduate seeking to build a foundation in education administration, institutional leadership, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support: Manage office workflows, coordinate high-priority communications, and support the daily operations of the Head of School’s Office. Create and maintain a campus wide calendar.
- Project Coordination: Assist the Chief of Staff with the planning and execution of special projects, such as Board of Trustee meetings, faculty meetings, and campus-wide strategic initiatives.
- Research & Literature Reviews: Conduct research and synthesize literature on trends in secondary education, practices, and institutional policy to inform executive decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support outreach to faculty, students, parents, and alumni by coordinating logistics and preparing materials.
- Meeting Support: Help the Chief of Staff by preparing agendas, conducting analyses, and documenting outcomes for the Senior Administrative Council and other leadership groups.
Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor's degree (completed by June 2026) in education, public policy, humanities, or a related field. Phillips Academy graduates preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; high proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word as well as TEAMS.
- Attributes: High degree of professionalism, discretion with confidential information, and a proactive "self-starter" mindset.
- Interest: A demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in educational leadership or administration.
