Vice President, Derivative Confirmations – Capital Markets Operations
Role Overview
A leading financial institution is seeking a Vice President to join its Capital Markets Derivative Operations team. This senior role supports the daily confirmations processes for a global derivative trading business, with operational coverage spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. The position works closely with Front Office, Back Office, and Technology teams to deliver on business objectives.
The Derivative Operations function is organized across four core areas: Sales Middle Office, Confirmations, Settlements, and Margin. The Confirmations team manages trade-documentation workflows while actively monitoring daily risk. The group is committed to staying current with evolving industry standards and regulations, and continues to develop its risk-mitigation framework and technology agenda.
This is a primarily remote position with occasional in-office requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Confirmations professionals, ensuring timely dispatch and execution of confirmations with counterparties
- Identify, escalate, and resolve trade breaks in a timely manner
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Maintain proficiency across industry-standard platforms and internal systems
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Contribute to and support testing of system enhancements, new products, and industry initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation for all team-owned controls and procedures
- Serve as a point of escalation and liaison for senior management on confirmation-related matters
- Cross-train and develop team members to ensure operational coverage and participation in key initiatives
- Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance benchmarks to drive team productivity and accountability
- Balance day-to-day operational requirements with the longer-term strategic development of the function
- Demonstrate a strong customer service mindset in supporting internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in financial services
- 5 years of supervisory or team management experience
- 3 years of experience in a Confirmations or trade documentation capacity
- Bachelor's degree required; Finance, Accounting, or related discipline preferred
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and risk frameworks relevant to Operations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Proven ability to independently assess situations and articulate a clear course of action
- Project management experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
