A New York City based Certified Public Accounting and Consulting firm with a New York and Florida presence is seeking to hire a Director, Private Client Group to join their teams. This is a hybrid position is in New York City.
The Director will be supporting high-net-worth individuals, families, and closely held entities with complex tax needs. This role is designed for a seasoned tax professional who thrives in a client-facing, leadership-oriented environment and is comfortable overseeing sophisticated engagements while developing teams and deepening client relationships.
The Director will serve as a key advisor to clients and an internal leader within PCG, balancing technical excellence, people management, and strategic execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a primary advisor to high-net-worth clients, delivering thoughtful tax planning and compliance solutions across individual, trust, estate, and pass-through entity matters.
- Oversee complex tax engagements from planning through execution, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards.
- Review advanced individual, fiduciary, and partnership tax returns and related deliverables.
- Partner with clients' external advisors (attorneys, wealth managers, family office professionals) to address multi-dimensional tax and wealth considerations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Managers and Senior Managers, providing coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
- Support Partners in strengthening long-term client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand services.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and translate developments into practical guidance for clients and internal teams.
- Contribute to practice initiatives, including training, process improvement, and knowledge sharing within the Private Client Group.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA preferred.
Experience:
- 10 years of progressive public accounting experience with a strong focus on high-net-worth taxation.
- Demonstrated experience with individual, trust, estate, and partnership tax matters.
- Prior experience supervising teams and reviewing complex tax work.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility with clients and colleagues.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Compensation:
- Competitive annual salary in the range of $200,000 to $350,000, based on individual's experience level.
