Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher will provide specially designed instruction aligned with IEP goals and state standards. The role may support students in a resource, inclusion, or self-contained setting, depending on school needs and teacher experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide differentiated instruction tailored to students with disabilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff
- Collect and analyze data to monitor progress toward IEP goals
- Maintain compliance with federal and state special education regulations
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
- Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid state Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility)
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and modifications
- Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills
