What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scientist I – Molecular Biology & Gene Therapy position at Pharmaceutical Company?

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist I to support innovative research in non-viral cell and gene therapy delivery platforms. This role will focus on the development and evaluation of novel mRNA and DNA payload technologies using advanced molecular biology techniques.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cloning, in vitro transcription (IVT), transfection workflows, and molecular assays used to evaluate transgene expression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and clone expression vectors and IVT donor plasmids
  • Perform DNA and mRNA transfections in mouse and human cell lines
  • Execute molecular biology experiments including qPCR, qRT-PCR, luciferase reporter assays, and Western blotting
  • Produce and evaluate in vitro-transcribed (IVT) mRNA
  • Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and prepare scientific summaries/presentations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional research teams to support gene therapy platform development

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years OR Master’s degree with 2 years of industry/research experience in Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with molecular cloning techniques including Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate cloning, and site-directed mutagenesis
  • Experience with IVT workflows and nucleic acid technologies
  • Expertise in qPCR/qRT-PCR, reporter assays, and Western blotting
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and transfection techniques
  • Familiarity with tools such as SnapGene, Prism, and MS Office
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills

Preferred Experience

  • Gene therapy or cell therapy research experience
  • Experience working with primary cells such as T cells, monocytes, or hepatocytes

Salary : $35 - $46
