Position Summary
The Assistant Coordinator of Residence Life and Camps supports the mission of Pfeiffer University by fostering a residential community that promotes holistic student development, servant leadership, and purposeful engagement. This position is responsible for cultivating inclusive and supportive living environments where students are encouraged to grow intellectually, socially, and spiritually.
In addition, the role contributes to the University's commitment to community engagement by assisting in the development and implementation of camps and conferences that extend Pfeiffer's educational mission beyond the traditional academic year.
Responsibilities
A. Residential Community Development
• Create and sustain a welcoming, inclusive residential environment grounded in
respect, integrity, and community.
• Encourage student growth through intentional programming that supports
academic success, personal development, and leadership.
• Serve as a visible and accessible presence in the residence halls, building
meaningful relationships with students.
• Support a residential experience that reflects Pfeiffer's commitment to developing ethical, service-oriented leaders.
B. Student Leadership & Mentorship
• Assist in the recruitment, training, and mentoring of the Resident Assistants (RAs) as peer leaders and role models.
• Provide ongoing coaching and support to student staff, fostering accountability, leadership development, and a spirit of service.
• Guide students in navigating challenges, making responsible decisions, and
engaging as active members of the campus community.
C. Student Support, Conduct, & Care
• Address student concerns with empathy and professionalism, offering guidance and appropriate referrals.
• Uphold community standards through an educational and developmental conduct process.
• Respond to crisis situations and participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring student safety and well-being.
D. Operations & Stewardship
• Assist in the day-to-day management of residence halls, including occupancy processes, facilities coordination, and policy implementation.
• Conduct regular health and safety inspections, promoting responsible stewardship of campus spaces.
• Participate in an on-call or after-hours support rotation, as needed in a residential campus environment.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing assessment and improvement efforts.
E. Camps, Conferences, and Community Engagement
• Manage the planning and coordination of camps, conferences, and summer housing programs that reflect Pfeiffer's values of service, learning, and community connection.
• Collaborate with campus partners and external groups to provide a welcoming and well-organized experience for guests.
• Support logistical operations including housing assignments, check-in processes, and program coordination.
F. Collaboration & Institutional Engagement
• Partner with colleagues across campus to support student success, retention, and engagement.
• Participate in divisional initiatives, committees, and campus events that advance the University's mission.
• Contribute to a campus culture that values belonging, purpose, and meaningful connection.
This position is a full-time position.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
• Experience in residence life, student engagement, or leadership development (including graduate assistantships).
• Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive communities.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with camps, conferences, or event coordination.
• Experience in student conduct, crisis response, or conflict mediation.
