Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic maintenance team for paper tube manufacturer in a climate-controlled environment. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components according to detailed technical drawings and specifications. Your expertise will help ensure the production of high-quality metal structures and parts, adhering to safety standards and industry best practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that require precision, mechanical knowledge, and a passion for craftsmanship.
Duties
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine the best welding and fabrication methods.
- Perform various welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to ensure precise dimensions and tolerances in fabricated parts.
- Cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal and other metal materials using plasma cutters, power tools, machining equipment, and hand tools.
- Fabricate ductwork, structural components, and custom metal assemblies while adhering to safety protocols and ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) codes & standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the fabrication shop while following safety procedures diligently.
- Collaborate with team members on projects involving mechanical fabrication, metal materials handling, and assembly tasks to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience or previous fabrication shop experience demonstrating hands-on welding and metalworking skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints with strong attention to detail.
- Skilled in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, with knowledge of welding standards.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise fabrication work.
- Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, machining equipment, soldering tools, and gas metal arc welding equipment safely.
- Mechanical knowledge of metal fabrication processes including sheet metal fabrication and ductwork assembly.
- Understanding of ASME codes & standards related to mechanical fabrication and welding practices.
- Excellent safety protocol adherence with a focus on maintaining a safe work environment at all times.

Work Environment:
