What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infrastructure Technician II / III position at Peyton Resource Group?
Peyton Resource Group is hiring Infrastructure Technician IIs and IIIs for a major data center build in Abilene, TX on behalf of a leading data center infrastructure company.
Schedule: 12 hr shifts, Mon to Sat, days (6am to 6pm) or nights (6pm to 6am)
Type: Contract with possible extension or hire
Start Dates: 10/26 or 11/2
Interview: One 30 minute technical interview, then a hire decision
INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN II | $30 to $35/hr
What You'll Do
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber and copper structured cabling
- Build and remove racks, cabinets, cable trays, and pathways
- Read and follow project drawings and specs
- Support and mentor less experienced techs
What You Need
- 3 to 5 years of telecom or structured cabling experience
- Experience installing, terminating, and testing single mode and multimode fiber
- Proficiency with Fluke, OTDR, and VFL testers
- High school diploma or GED
- Fiber splicing is a big plus
INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN III | $35 to $42/hr
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor small teams of Tech I and II technicians
- Fusion splice fiber, including high strand ribbon fiber
- Terminate, test, and certify copper and fiber (Fluke DSX8000, OTDR, VFL)
- Install racks, patch panels, and network devices
- Serve as the onsite technical expert and customer point of contact
What You Need
- 5 years installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage cabling
- Required fiber splicing experience
- Experience leading or mentoring a crew
- Knowledge of TIA/BICSI standards
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
REQUIREMENTS FOR BOTH
- Your own professional tool kit (VFL, cable tester, cordless drill/impact, punch tools, hand tools)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders, lifts, at heights, and in tight spaces
- Ability to distinguish colors for cable identification
- Reliable daily transportation
- OSHA10 and First Aid/CPR within 90 days if you don't already have them
BIG PLUS FOR BOTH
- Data center experience
- OSHA10, FOA, or BICSI certifications
- Experience with Panduit, CommScope, Corning, or Leviton
