Construction Quality Control Technician

Location: Syracuse, NY

Peyton Resource Group is seeking a Construction Quality Control Technician to support telecommunications infrastructure construction in the Syracuse area.

This field-based position is ideal for someone with an outside plant (OSP), fiber, or telecommunications construction background who can read blueprints and construction drawings, verify field installations, and document quality issues.

Responsibilities

• Inspect telecommunications construction work, cabling, equipment, and installations for quality and accuracy.
• Compare field conditions and completed work against blueprints, schematics, construction drawings, and project specifications.
• Identify discrepancies and document deficiencies requiring corrective action.
• Record inspection findings and test results using digital documentation tools.
• Communicate quality concerns and recommendations to construction crews and project personnel.
• Help ensure work meets applicable safety requirements and company quality standards.
• Support quality control activities for aerial and other outside plant construction.

Qualifications

• Experience in telecommunications, outside plant (OSP), fiber construction, or related utility infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Understanding of telecommunications construction practices and the ability to identify differences between plans and field conditions.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and communication abilities.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Reliable personal vehicle required for work-related travel.
• Ability to pass required background and drug screening.

Experience with aerial construction, field inspections, construction verification, utility prints, or OSP walkouts is a plus.

Work Environment and Travel

• Field-based outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Travel may be required up to 50%.
• Candidates must provide their own reliable vehicle for work-related travel.
• Mileage reimbursement is provided for qualifying work-related travel.
• Must be comfortable working at heights and performing physically demanding fieldwork.
• Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
