At Petticoat-Schmitt, youll oversee heavy civil construction projects including site development, grading, storm drainage, water, sewer, utilities, and earthwork from planning to execution, leading teams that build infrastructure transforming communities across Northeast Florida.
What Youll Do
Field Leadership
-
Lead and manage all field operations for assigned site development and utility projects.

Supervise foremen, direct crews, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure efficient use of Petticoat-Schmitt resources.

Maintain full knowledge of project plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, budgets, and change directives.

Maintain accurate weekly hard short-term schedules and proactively manage upcoming work.

Drive production and maintain project timelines you control the schedule, not the other way around.
Safety & Quality Management

Act as the on-site safety leader and enforce all Petticoat-Schmitt and OSHA rules.

Conduct Job Briefings daily and ensure foremen do the same.

Maintain clean, organized, and environmentally compliant job sites.

Hold crews and subcontractors accountable to Petticoat-Schmitts quality standards.
Project Coordination & Documentation
-
Ensure all reporting and documentation is timely and accurate, including daily reports, timesheets, schedules, production reports, locates, environmental logs, and change order information.

Communicate consistently with project managers and senior management.

Support monthly cost forecasting, budget reviews, and project meetings.
Team Development

Mentor, coach, and grow foremen, operators, and laborers.

Assist with evaluating performance, hiring, and training upcoming leaders.

What Were Looking For
Skills & Abilities

Effective communication and leadership skills.

Ability to read plans, measure, calculate quantities, and perform construction math.

Ability to use levels, lasers, and total stations.
-
Working knowledge of PSCC and OSHA safety requirements.

Tech-comfortable able to use tablets, smartphones, and digital reporting tools.

Understanding of equipment capabilities and safe operations.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand or sit for long periods, climb in/out of equipment, and lift up to 40 lbs.

Ability to distinguish jobsite sounds such as backup alarms and verbal cues.

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Training & Experience
-
3 of civil construction leadership as a crew lead, foreman, or superintendent.
-
Experience in site development, utilities, grading, and/or public works required.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Training such as Competent Person, Confined Space, Rigging, Fall Protection, and NPDES/Erosion Control preferred.

Jobsites: Throughout Northeast Florida

Reliable transportation to/from job sites required.
Schedule

Typical schedule: MondayFriday, 7:00 AM4:00 PM

Overtime as required by project needs.

Field-based position working outdoors in all weather conditions.

PPE required: hard hat, eye/ear protection, high-visibility clothing.
