Petroplan is working with an industry-leading EPC company seeking an experienced Area Planner & Scheduler (Downstream) to support a major U.S. mining project. This is a contract role based in Thacker Pass, NV.
Position Overview:
As an Area Planner/Scheduler, you will be responsible for planning, schedule development, progress tracking, and recovery plan activities for a large-scale downstream construction area. You’ll work closely with engineering, construction, procurement, and subcontractor teams to ensure project milestones are met, risks are addressed, and work fronts are fully aligned.
This position requires on-site presence in Thacker Pass, NV with camp accommodations and transportation to/from site provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and monitor construction schedules for downstream project scope
- Collect, verify, and integrate scope, quantities, and progress from all entities into the master project plan
- Lead 90-day lookaheads and 3-week lookaheads, including progress and variance analysis
- Integrate subcontractor schedules into the overall project master schedule
- Track the critical path, conduct productivity analysis, and identify schedule risks or restraints
- Recommend schedule improvements and develop mitigation or recovery strategies
- Review design and construction scope to ensure alignment with schedule milestones
- Prepare monthly updates, reporting packages, and schedule deliverables for project leadership
- Participate in schedule resource loading and leveling
- Partner closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls teams
- Conduct schedule analysis to identify problem areas and propose solutions to the project team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
- 5-8 years of industry experience
- Background in planning/scheduling for construction, EPC, or industrial projects
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Office, and project controls systems
- Experience supporting large, complex projects with non-routine scheduling requirements
