What You Will Do
The pharmacy technician receives, prepares and delivers barcoded unit-dose, sterile and non-sterile medications to the nursing units. Provide medications as stocked medications to the automated dispensing cabinets, as emergency kits and trays, and as provider ordered patient specific medications. All activities of a pharmacy technician are supervised and approved by a pharmacist. Pharmacy technicians collect home medication lists from the patients to input in the medical record. Pharmacy technicians maintain medications safely and within the manufacturer’s standards throughout the organization.
Required Education
High school or equivalent diploma
Preferred Skills
Adept at Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Required Licensure/Registration/Certification
Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. A Pharmacy Technician Trainee must become a registered Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy within one year after start date to continue employment.
Preferred Licensure/Registration/Certification
PTCB Certification, Sterile IV Compounding Certification
Preferred Experience
One year experience working as a pharmacy technician, hospital pharmacy technician experience.
