We are committed to honoring families and their loved ones with the highest standard of care. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a dedicated Cemetery General Manager to lead our team. This position oversees all aspects of cemetery operations, including grounds, interment activities, customer service, sales, and compliance. This role requires a combination of cemetery operational and sales expertise, and a strong sense of integrity and leadership. Elmhurst Cemetery is part of the Peter Troost Monument organization, family owned and operated for more than 135 years.

What will you do in this position?

  • Assist families with memorial purchases and burial arrangements, completing all related paperwork as necessary.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals for the location
  • Maintain all marketing and sales materials, keeping them current and organized.
  • Ensure all facilities are properly maintained so that we may offer a comfortable and dignified experience.
  • Expand our preneed sales program through funeral home relationships, community involvement, religious organizations and previous customers.
  • Answer telephone and internet inquiries about cemetery products and services for both at need and pre need customers.
  • Ensure compliance of sales and operations practices with all federal, state and local regulations
  • Work closely with grounds operations to ensure all equipment maintenance is performed, landscaping is maintained, needed supplies are on-hand and graves are properly dug.
  • Process memorial orders, including specifying all necessary details of materials, style, size, finish, and design in our customized state-of-the art ERP system.
  • Follow up on the status of sales orders, take customer payments, and send out monthly customer statements.
  • Develop marketing programs that complement the area demographics, religious groups, ethnicities and funeral homes
  • Drive innovation by creating new service offerings and creative ways to serve families, such as sustainability initiatives, digital memorialization and customer experience enhancements.
  • Responsible for maintaining a respectful atmosphere inside the cemetery grounds.
  • May attend burials as needed to serve as the cemetery representative.
  • Assist with hiring as needed.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 7 years of professional sales experience
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Must complete requirements for Cemetery Manager License within one year of employment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to accomplish goals and plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved
  • Basic Working Knowledge of Lawn Equipment/Hand Tools

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary plus commission and bonus. First year earnings between $75k - $90K.
  • Schedule will consist of working Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm; must be available to work every other Saturday 9:00am – 1:00pm. The office is closed on Sundays; no evening hours required.
