General Position Description:
The Scheduler is responsible for overseeing the interpreting schedules using several software platforms to provide quality interpreting supports to consumers, interpreters, and employees. Responsibilities include: Processing interpreting requests, managing the weekly schedule, and coordinating interpreter and requestor availability. In addition, follows-up and manages all aspects of assignments to interpreters thoroughly, efficiently and timely.
Broad Areas of Responsibility:
Participating in agency activities, serving on committees, and communicating the agency’s values and principles to others; coordinating and monitoring effective activities and providing training and mentoring to new and existing employees; summarizing data on progress.
Minimal Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Proficiency in ASL & understanding of various communication styles
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks and assignments based upon agency needs
• Strong level of organizational skills to manage workload effectively and efficiently
• Attention to detail with the ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when reviewing all Interpreting requests
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with all employees of the Agency, external Interpreters, individuals supported, and the community
• Knowledge and application of best practices related to scheduling assignments and delivering American Sign Language (ASL) services
• Knowledge of Interpreter’s Code of Professional Conduct
• Knowledge of Deaf Culture and communication access
• Must have critical thinking skills to provide solutions when practical issues come up associated with scheduling of assignments and delivering ASL services
• Must be able to multitask various schedules and projects
• Must be flexible and adaptable with changing work demands
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications, PowerPoint and
Google Suite platform
• Valid driver’s license, access to insured vehicle and favorable driving record
• Some travel requirements to satisfy he needs of interpreting assignments/projects
• Must be able to present a favorable BCI
Desired Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of Interpreting Scheduling Platform
