Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA)

The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting both administrative and patient care duties within a medical practice.

Responsibilities include

• rooming patients, collecting vital signs, medication reconciliation, and assisting with procedures such as sutures, splinting, and point-of-care testing.
• Managing telephone communications, scheduling appointments, verifying benefits, and coordinating referrals and testing.
• Administering medications, providing patient education, and handling prescription refills in accordance with provider orders.
• Performing clinical tasks like EKGs, dressing changes, wound care, specimen collection, and assisting providers during examinations and procedures.
• Maintaining equipment, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring accurate documentation in the EMR.
• Participating in emergency response as a member of the code team and supporting overall office operations to ensure smooth workflow.
  
  

Qualifications include certification as a Medical Assistant (NCCT, AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NHA, AHA, ARMA, or AAH), basic life support (BLS), high school diploma or GED, and relevant clinical skills.

Skills desired are excellent patient communication, clinical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to perform a variety of clinical procedures. The role requires maintaining department-specific competencies and adhering to safety and procedural protocols.
