About the Role
Performance Fire Inc is a licensed fire protection contractor serving commercial kitchens and businesses across Southern California. We're hiring an experienced Kitchen Fire Suppression Technician to inspect, install, and service the pre-engineered wet chemical systems that protect commercial cooking operations. This is a role for a seasoned technician whom should already know the trade and be confident working independently in the field.
What You'll Do
- Inspect, test, and maintain commercial kitchen fire suppression systems (Ansul R-102, Amerex KP, and similar wet chemical systems)
- Perform semi-annual inspections in accordance with NFPA 96 and NFPA 17A
- Install new suppression systems on commercial kitchen hoods and cooking lines
- Recharge and return systems to service following a discharge
- Replace fusible links, nozzles, cartridges, and related components
- Complete accurate inspection reports, service tags, and documentation
- Ensure work meets local fire codes and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements
- Communicate professionally with restaurant owners, kitchen staff, and facility managers
- Travel to customer sites throughout the service area
Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience servicing commercial kitchen fire suppression systems (Ansul R-102, Amerex KP, and similar wet chemical systems) — this is an experienced-only role
- Working knowledge of spray booth (paint booth) fire suppression systems
- Solid familiarity with NFPA 17A and NFPA 96
- Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand and power tools
- Able to read technical manuals and follow detailed procedures
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently in the field
A Plus
- Sales ability — identifying deficiencies, quoting repairs, and gathering new business
- Experience with Halon / clean agent systems
- Manufacturer or industry certifications (Ansul, Amerex, Buckeye)
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable climbing ladders and working on rooftops and in confined spaces
- Able to bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $25–$35 per hour (based on experience and certifications)
