PeopleReady Skilled Trades is currently hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator – Grader to support a large contractor in the greater Charleston, SC area. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and impactful construction projects across multiple sectors, including commercial, healthcare, industrial and energy, infrastructure, institutional, and residential.
As a Grader Operator, you will be responsible for performing precise grading, leveling, and site preparation to meet project specifications. You will also play a critical role in stormwater management, pipe installation, and other essential site construction tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Operate grader equipment safely and efficiently for site preparation, grading, and leveling.
- Set up and utilize lasers to ensure accurate grade control.
- Perform storm pipe installation, including calculating grades and percentages for pipes.
- Set grades for boxes, ditches, and other construction elements.
- Lead and oversee storm pipe-laying crews as a foreman when necessary.
- Conduct hub and grade setting and manage groundwater control measures.
- Collaborate with team members and contractors to meet project goals.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, specifically operating a grader.
- Skills:
- Ability to shoot grades and calculate percentages for pipe and grading tasks.
- Proficiency with laser equipment for grading and leveling.
- Strong knowledge of stormwater control and pipe-laying techniques.
- Leadership: Experience leading or managing crews is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform outdoor tasks in varying weather and terrain conditions.
- Possess a valid certification and minimum five years' experience with heavy construction equipment including Grader
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, electronics, electronics, and Department of Transportation regulations
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass background, drug test, and entry courses as needed for each site worked
- Ability to work in variable weather (cold, heat, windy, etc.)
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods throughout the day with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
