What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content & Social Media Lead position at PEOPLEfirst Talent & Retention Consulting?
Who You Are:
Do you enjoy turning complex or “unsexy” ideas, products, or services into content people actually want to engage with? Do you prefer being hands-on—creating, editing, and shipping content—not just planning it? When you see content, do you instinctively think: “This could perform better”?
If that sounds like you, keep reading.
We’re looking for a Content & Social Media Lead to shape how a globally respected intellectual property law firm shows up across digital platforms, combining strong editorial judgment, creative execution, and data-driven thinking.
This firm represents some of the most recognized brands in the world and operates at the intersection of law, business, and culture. This role sits at the center of content strategy, social media, and digital storytelling, working closely with attorneys and leadership to translate complex legal work into clear, compelling content that builds credibility and visibility.
Because of that, this role requires someone who can balance creativity with judgment, someone who can bring fresh, engaging ideas to the table while maintaining a high level of professionalism, polish, and attention to detail.
What This Role Actually Looks Like
This is a hybrid role—part strategist, part creator, part operator.
It’s a hybrid role that blends:
- Social media strategy and platform ownership
- Content creation (written visual video)
- Editorial storytelling and thought leadership
- Website and digital content management
- Performance tracking and optimization
- Collaboration with attorneys and leadership
Think of this as owning the firm’s content engine—from idea to execution to performance.
***Some of the Things You’ll Be Doing***:
Leading Content & Social Strategy
- Owning and evolving the firm’s presence across LinkedIn and other platforms
- Building content strategies that support thought leadership, events, and attorney visibility
- Monitoring performance and continuously optimizing based on data
Creating and Managing Content
- Writing and editing content across formats—articles, posts, client alerts, and marketing materials
- Interviewing attorneys and translating complex legal topics into accessible, engaging content
- Managing content calendars and publishing workflows
Design, Video & Multimedia
- Creating visual assets using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Producing and editing short-form video content (CapCut or similar tools)
- Repurposing long-form content into engaging digital formats
Digital & Website Management
- Updating and maintaining website content via CMS platforms (WordPress, Sitecore, Drupal)
- Supporting newsletters and digital communications
- Ensuring consistency in tone, messaging, and brand presence
Who Thrives in This Role
- The people who do best here are builders, storytellers, and problem-solvers.
- They are the kind of professionals who:
- Enjoy both thinking strategically AND executing the work themselves
- Get energized by figuring out how to make “complex” or “technical” content engaging
- Are comfortable working with senior stakeholders and translating their ideas into content
- Take ownership and don’t wait to be told what to do
- Are curious about what works—and constantly test, learn, and improve
You likely have:
- 5 years of experience in content, social media, or communications
- Experience in professional services, B2B, or content-driven environments (law firm experience is a plus, not required)
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone and clarity
- Hands-on experience with CMS platforms (WordPress, Sitecore, Drupal)
- Experience with design and video tools (Canva, Adobe, CapCut, etc.)
- A portfolio that shows your work across written, visual, and social content * REQUIRED
A Quick Reality Check
This role is not ideal for someone who prefers:
- Purely strategic roles without hands-on execution
- Delegating content creation rather than owning it
- Highly repetitive or templated work without creative problem-solving
- Environments where content is “set and forget” instead of continuously evolving
- Very strict 9-5 and structured environments- this is more fast-paced, dynamic, start-up kind of vibes!
The people who thrive here are the ones who are willing to roll up their sleeves, experiment, and continuously improve how content performs.
The Culture
This is a firm that has built its reputation over decades by doing things the right way. The culture is grounded in:
- Collaboration and mutual respect
- High standards of quality and professionalism
- Hustle! Strong work ethic is a must!
- Strong internal relationships across teams
- A willingness to evolve and adapt
You’ll work closely with leadership who value initiative, trust their teams, and believe great ideas can come from anywhere.
Benefits & Perks
- Competitive salary ($85,000 – $110,000) based on experience
- Hybrid work environment (NYC office remote flexibility)
- 20 vacation days per year (accrued monthly)
- 10 sick days per year
- 3 personal days per year
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
- 401(k) retirement plan and profit-sharing eligibility
- Additional employee support programs and benefits through the firm’s wellness and assistance offerings
