Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Mammography Technologist (Diagnostic) to join our imaging team. The ideal candidate will perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography examinations while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires excellent technical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography examinations according to established imaging protocols.
- Conduct bone density (DEXA) examinations as assigned.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the examination process, addressing concerns, and answering questions to reduce anxiety.
- Obtain and document complete patient medical histories relevant to imaging procedures.
- Ensure proper patient identification and verify all required information before beginning examinations.
- Position patients accurately to obtain optimal diagnostic images while maintaining patient comfort and dignity.
- Review prior imaging studies when appropriate and obtain necessary release authorizations.
- Complete all documentation, procedure coding, and billing information accurately within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and PACS systems.
- Maintain compliance with Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and all applicable state and federal guidelines.
- Monitor image quality and ensure all studies meet diagnostic standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, functionality, and readiness of mammography and bone density equipment.
- Follow infection prevention, radiation safety, and quality assurance protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient patient care.
- Provide exceptional customer service by delivering a compassionate, patient-centered imaging experience.
- Adhere to organizational policies, ethical standards, and compliance requirements while reporting any concerns appropriately.
- Maintain accurate departmental records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Work at multiple imaging locations or satellite clinics as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
Licensure & Certifications
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography (R).
- Current Mammography certification through ARRT.
- Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license with Radiography and Mammography certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience performing screening and diagnostic mammography examinations.
- Experience with bone density (DEXA) imaging preferred.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and PACS systems.
Required Skills
