Job Summary
We are seeking a Design Liaison Engineer responsible for collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, manufacturing processes, and hardware performance. The ideal candidate will have experience with mechanical design, gas turbine hardware, manufacturing processes, and engineering problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Global Supply Chain and cross-functional teams to drive improvements and resolve hardware non-conformances while maintaining product quality.
- Support design for manufacturability, lean manufacturing initiatives, and concurrent engineering activities.
- Provide engineering support for hardware qualifications, new processes, process changes, and equipment implementation.
- Apply knowledge of design and manufacturing principles to improve part functionality, reduce costs, and add value.
- Participate in supply chain Kaizens and lean improvement activities.
- Drive proactive quality improvements, defect reduction, and process optimization.
- Support qualification guidelines, engineering specifications, and resolution of key manufacturing issues.
- Support technology development and qualification of advanced manufacturing processes including castings, coatings, drilling, and other special processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to promote teamwork, quality, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
- Experience designing gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery, particularly hot gas path components.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, methods, and coatings.
- Experience with hardware non-conformance disposition using mechanical engineering assessments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Experience with FEA, solid modeling, and analytical engineering tools.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a global, cross-functional environment.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and support evolving business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Gas turbine engineering experience, especially Hot Gas Path (HGP) components.
- Manufacturing engineering experience.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methods and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience with HGP components and tools such as NX, GD&T, and ANSYS Classic.
- Python programming experience.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing processes.
- Strong customer-focused mindset with a commitment to quality.
- Ability to challenge existing processes and drive innovative solutions.
Technical Skills
Must Have:
- Mechanical design experience with gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and coatings.
- Non-conformance disposition experience.
- GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
- Solid modeling and FEA experience.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
