Food Studios (PIFS), a state-of-the-art facility featuring 28 test kitchens, 13 photo studios, a prop and styling studio, an outdoor grill/BBQ station and an expansive showcase kitchen and tasting room for demonstrations and events. Powered by a talented team of test kitchen professionals, stylists, and photographers, the Meredith Food Studios is the country’s premier creative hub, producing thousands of world class recipes, images and related content annually for Meredith’s print, digital, and social platforms.
The Test Kitchen Assistant will assist the PIFS Recipe Testers and Developers in recipe development, nutritional analysis, grocery shopping, and taste tests across brands.

About The Positions Contributions
Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
- 30%: Develop and test recipes across People Inc. print and digital brands. Deliver fully annotated recipes in style, including content deliverables, nutritional analysis, and photos for each project
- 15%: Prepare recipes on camera for hosted social videos
- 15%: Assist with market order and grocery shopping; stock shared pantries and cold storage areas in the kitchen
- 10%: Stay abreast of current cooking trends, cookbooks, and competitors in the food space
- 10%: Consult and assist as needed on photo shoots to ensure recipes are being executed as intended
- 10%: File all expense reports for accounting purposes
- 10%: Work with the Test Kitchen Manager to be a steward of the facilities
The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- B.S. or B.A. and a culinary degree preferred and/or equivalent extensive professional cooking experience
- You are a recipe expert: Proficient in writing according to style and able to troubleshoot a recipe just by reading it.
- You have a strong knowledge of food, including a range of cuisines, techniques and equipment.
- You have social media savvy and are excited about digital trends.
- Creative and Scientific: You care deeply about the way food looks and tastes and enjoy both the artistic and methodical aspects of creating food recipe content. You love to geek-out about the latest culinary accessories and have fun putting equipment to the test.
