Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee full-cycle ocean import shipments from booking through final delivery
- Communicate with overseas agents, steamship lines, truckers, warehouses, customs brokers, and customers regarding shipment status and required documentation
- Prepare and process import documentation, including arrival notices, bills of lading, delivery orders, and invoices
- Track and trace shipments to ensure timely cargo movement and delivery
- Monitor shipment milestones and proactively resolve delays, discrepancies, and service issues
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, FMC requirements, and internal company procedures
- Arrange inland transportation and delivery appointments as needed
- Review and verify carrier and vendor invoices for billing accuracy
- Maintain accurate shipment records within the company operating system
- Deliver exceptional customer service through timely updates and issue resolution
- Assist accounting with invoicing, payables, and shipment reconciliation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with customs brokerage, accounting, warehousing, and sales teams
Qualifications
- 2 years of ocean import experience within freight forwarding, logistics, or NVOCC operations preferred
- Strong understanding of international shipping documentation and import procedures
- Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations and import compliance requirements
- Experience coordinating with ocean carriers, CFS stations, and drayage providers
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Strong communication and customer service abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management systems; CargoWise experience preferred
