Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end customs clearance process for international import shipments.
- Review and process customs entries in accordance with CBP regulations and requirements.
- Classify merchandise accurately using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other import documentation.
- Ensure correct duties, taxes, tariffs, and fees are assessed and paid.
- Communicate with clients, CBP, government agencies, carriers, and internal operations teams.
- Monitor shipments through the customs clearance process and resolve entry issues or holds.
- Provide guidance to customers regarding customs regulations, classification, valuation, and compliance.
- Assist with customs audits, documentation requests, and compliance reviews.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, entry errors, and documentation issues.
- Stay current with changes to U.S. Customs regulations, tariffs, and import requirements.
- Work closely with freight forwarding and operations teams to ensure smooth international shipments.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all customs documentation is properly retained.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. Customs Broker License is required.
- 3 years of experience in U.S. customs brokerage within an international freight forwarding or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, customs entry procedures, and HTS classification.
- Experience handling a variety of international import shipments.
- Strong understanding of customs documentation and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with customs brokerage or freight forwarding software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
