What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Director Program Manager position at People Architects?
Our client is Media company at the front end of a major transformation and is scaling its program and project management capabilities across internal platforms, tools, and third-party integrations. They are looking for a leader to stand up this practice within the company and report directly to the CTO.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CTO, the Senior Director of Program Management will architect and expand the PMO function, own the portfolio operating rhythm, and drive high-confidence delivery across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Legal. This executive leader will embed scalable practices, foster cross-functional execution, and cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Launch and scale the PMO function, defining intake, prioritization, quarterly/PI planning, delivery governance, and change control.
- Champion transparency and consistency across teams.
- Balance capacity vs. demand, manage cross-team dependencies, and maintain an integrated delivery plan spanning internal platforms and third-party integrations.
- Lead steering committees, QBRs, standups of standups, RAID reviews, and decision forums.
- Establish clear escalation paths and unblock mechanisms.
- Deploy fit-for-purpose delivery methodologies (Agile, Kanban, SAFe, hybrid), and roll out standardized playbooks and templates for planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Personally lead high-impact programs (e.g., platform builds, infrastructure, complex integrations), including vendor orchestration, SOW management, and partner performance.
- Optimize Jira/Confluence workflows and build automated dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or Looker to track health, forecasts, and outcomes.
- Deliver crisp, executive-ready updates.
- Drive adoption of new tools and processes through enablement and stakeholder engagement.
- Hire, mentor, and scale a high-performing Program & Project Management team.
- Define competencies, career paths, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
- 12 years leading complex software/platform or infrastructure programs end-to-end.
- 5 years managing program/project managers with a track record of building teams and operating models.
- Proven success standing up or scaling PMO/portfolio functions at enterprise level.
- Mastery of Jira/Confluence (or Asana/Smartsheet) and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).
- Exceptional organizational skills; thrives in ambiguity while driving clarity and prioritization.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder facilitation across Product, Engineering, and business units.
- Bonus: Experience in adtech, MarTech, OOH, or media platforms; certifications (PMP, PgMP, Agile/SAFe, Prosci/Change).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Salary : $200,000 - $230,000
