Job Title: JV Volleyball Coach
Location: Pentucket Regional Middle School
Reports To: Athletic Director and Principal
FLSA Status: Stipend Position
Season: Fall
Position Overview:
The JV Volleyball Coach is responsible for assisting in the development of a competitive and educational volleyball program for middle and high school athletes. The coach will promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth while reinforcing the educational mission of the school.
Required Clearances:
- Verified CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check through the Massachusetts Department of Criminal Justice Information Services (DCJIS).
- Fingerprint-based national background check through the Massachusetts Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS).
- All background checks must be successfully completed prior to start of coaching duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct practices focused on skill development, fitness, and teamwork.
- Provide appropriate supervision and safety of student-athletes at all times.
- Support the varsity program through collaboration with the head coach on program philosophy and skill alignment.
- Encourage academic achievement, character development, and personal responsibility among athletes.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and the athletic department.
- Ensure compliance with MIAA rules and school district policies.
- Organize equipment and uniforms and report inventory needs.
- Attend required coaches’ meetings, training, and school events as applicable.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching or playing experience in volleyball, preferably at the high school or club level.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor to student-athletes.
- CPR, First Aid, and Concussion Certification (or willingness to complete before the season starts).
- Completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (preferred or required by state).
Stipend:
- This is a stipend position in accordance with the district’s collective bargaining agreement or approved athletic pay schedule.
