Pennant Solutions Group is hiring a Payroll/Benefits Specialist (hybrid - 1 day remote, 4 days on site)! The Payroll and Benefits Specialist will support the Human Resources function, with a primary focus on payroll and benefits administration. This role is responsible for assisting in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, and maintaining payroll and benefits data within HRIS and payroll systems. The position also supports reporting, compliance, and recordkeeping activities.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with and serve as backup for processing weekly payroll for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations
- Maintain and audit payroll data, including wages, tax elections, and benefits deductions within HRIS and payroll systems
- Process employee changes impacting payroll and benefits (e.g., new hires, terminations, status changes)
- Reconcile payroll accounts by reviewing transactions, identifying discrepancies, and performing analysis and reporting as needed
- Process and reconcile benefits invoices and support related administrative tasks
- Review and reconcile invoices for contingent or temporary workforce
- Support annual open enrollment by assisting employees, reviewing materials for accuracy, and reconciling elections between systems
- Administer leave processes, including FMLA and disability programs, by providing guidance, documentation, and tracking to ensure compliance while maintaining confidentiality
- Partner with managers and employees on leave-related matters, ensuring adherence to policies and regulations
- Assist with onboarding by presenting and explaining employee benefits offerings
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. A high level of customer service, attention to detail, and organizational ability is essential. Candidates should be self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required. The ability to analyze information, identify issues, and implement effective solutions is critical.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in an in-house environment
- Experience with benefits administration is highly preferred
- Professional certification such as FPC or CPP is a plus
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is primarily based in an office environment with 1 day remote (Friday's). Once this hire collects 6 months of experience, there will be 2x days remote.
