Position Summary: Responsible for the accurate collection, recording, and reporting of school real estate taxes and other revenues. This role provides high-level administrative support to the Business Office in an accurate, professional, confidential, and timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process daily bank deposits, record all revenue received, and reconcile the accounts receivable ledger.
- Prepare and issue current real estate and interim tax bills.
- Collect and process school real estate tax payments (mail, in-person, and lockbox) and post transactions to tax database daily.
- Maintain up-to-date tax assessment and ownership/address records. Track all assessment appeals and settlements.
- Post monthly Tax Claim Reports, issue delinquent notices, and lien property for unpaid taxes to Delaware county Tax Claim Bureau.
- Provide timely responses to tax certification requests and inquiries from taxpayers and mortgage companies.
- Serve as the Homestead/Farmstead Coordinator.
- Complete the Corrected School District Code Report (Act 80) annually for the PA Department of Revenue and neighboring districts.
- Issue external billings, maintain the accounts receivable ledger, and assist independent auditors during annual reviews.
- Assist with other Business Office duties as needed and provide backup coverage for the Administration Building visitor desk.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Associate's Degree preferred
- Experience: 3–5 years of Accounts Receivable or tax collection experience preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and automated accounting/ERM systems.
- Operational Skills: Strong understanding of general business office procedures and the ability to manage high-volume paperwork under strict deadlines.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills for interacting with vendors, staff, and the public.
- Organizational Talent: Proven ability to manage complex filing systems and maintain strict confidentiality regarding privileged information.
Physical & Legal Requirements
- Clearances: Must provide valid Act 34 Pennsylvania State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and Act 114 PDE FBI clearances.
- Environment: Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and operate standard office equipment.
