Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the medical treatment team at Highland Residential Center. This facility serves male youth adjudicated as juvenile delinquents, providing a stable environment focused on rehabilitation and comprehensive care.
In this role, you will apply a systematic, problem-solving approach to nursing, ensuring that all interventions and medication administrations meet high regulatory standards within a secure residential setting.
Key Responsibilities
As a vital member of the facility’s medical team, your duties will include:
Clinical Care: Reviewing overall health conditions, as well as preparing, evaluating, and implementing nursing intervention plans.
Medication Management: Conducting routine medication administration and maintaining a precise medical inventory, including controlled substances.
Collaborative Treatment: Ensuring all nursing interventions align with the youth’s comprehensive treatment plans and participating as an active member of the medical team.
Compliance & Safety: Maintaining strict infection control standards and preparing necessary clinical and administrative reports.
Professional Development: Participating in facility-specific staff trainings to stay current with correctional nursing standards.
Facility & Environment
Safety First: Supervision staff are always present while medical care is being provided to youth.
Accreditation: The center is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
Culture: A professional environment dedicated to the health and transition of youth (up to age 21).
Qualifications
Licensure: Must be currently licensed and registered to practice nursing in New York State.
Aptitude: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain a calm, professional demeanor in a residential correctional setting.
Reliability: Commitment to the 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM overnight shift.
