Position Summary
Penda Aiken inc. is a staffing firm located in Brooklyn New York. Our client is a New York State Agency and is seeking a detail-oriented Physician (MD / DO) professional to join their team. This role focuses on maintaining the current level of care for incarcerated individuals with chronic illnesses as well as handicapped incarcerated individuals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating for and initiating the facility's Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program and supporting its active 18-bed infirmary.
This is a fast-paced role requiring high reliability, punctuality, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
Primary Responsibilities
Chronic & Specialized Care: Maintain the mandated current level of care for incarcerated individuals presenting with chronic illnesses and physical handicaps.
MAT Program Coordination: Dedicate required medical time to thoroughly evaluate candidates for, and safely initiate, the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program.
Infirmary Management: Oversee and provide medical support within the facility's active 18-bed infirmary.
Cross-Facility Care: Manage medical workflows for infirmary patients, including individuals serviced from external facilities.
Census & Flow Support: Efficiently navigate and manage a medical care environment characterized by a heavy turnaround in patient census.
Agency Collaboration: Work closely alongside facility staff, state health representatives, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure secure, compliant healthcare delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical institution.
Licensure: Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of New York.
Certifications: Board eligibility or Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Addiction Medicine; valid DEA registration with credentials required to initiate MAT protocols.
Experience: Professional medical experience managing patients with complex chronic illnesses or within an inpatient/infirmary care environment.
Technical Skills: Meticulous approach to record-keeping and data entry within medical tracking databases.
