CAH- Pediatric Clinic-Referral Specialist/Receptionist –Full Time - Day Shift - Req 9615

Pay Range $17.97-$22.92*

Referral specialist is responsible for management of all incoming and outgoing referrals. Upon receiving incoming referral(s), ensure all medical records necessary for scheduling are received, verify insurance coverage is active, obtain authorization and/or ensure authorization fo referral is current (if necessary) and schedule patient appointment appropriately. Upon completion of treatment, close referral loop by sending progress note(s) and other pertinent information to the referring provider. Upon receiving notification that an outgoing referral is ordered, facilitate referral by sending all necessary information, referral notes, progress note(s), image(s) and other documents to the provider indicated. Ensure patient is scheduled and seen, obtain provider note(s) and close the referral when indicated. Stat referrals (incoming or outgoing) are expected to be processed as quickly as possible, ahead of routine referrals. The referral specialist will closely monitor all direct messages, faxes and mail to facilitate referrals and must be competent in managing all aspects of patient electronic health records. Answers telephone and prioritizes and relays messages as appropriate. This role will also be asked to cover receptionist position and would be trained to do so. Register patients, distribute all necessary paperwork for visit, in-services information, and routine instruction and assist patients with filling out forms as needed. Complies with established policies and procedures. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as necessary or directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Graduate

  
  

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Possession of strong organizational skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and medical terminology skills is required

• Ability to maintain confidentiality is a requirement.

• Preferred previous experience with Electronic Health Records.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in the medical field desirable.
