Position Summary

The Family Peer Advocate is a new role at PEARL, established to expand recovery support to family members of individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) or co-occurring disorders (COD). Drawing on their own experience as a family member, the Advocate will serve as a role model, mentor, and motivator, building authentic relationships grounded in shared family experience.

The Advocate provides support across four core areas: informational and educational support to help families understand systems of care and available resources; skills development to build families' confidence in coordinating care; emotional and affirmational support to reduce isolation and validate family experiences; and advocacy to help families navigate barriers across treatment, recovery, and related systems.

Coordinate with PEARL's Peer Recovery Specialists and partners, including Benton County Specialty Courts/Mental Health Court and Returning Home's Washington County Community Rebuilding Initiative, to support a whole-family approach. Maintain accurate documentation. Represent PEARL professionally in community settings. Participate in required meetings, trainings, and organizational events.

Lived experience as a family member of a person with SUD or COD (required). High school diploma or GED. Strong communication, empathy, and boundary-setting skills.
